Any suggestions for restaurants with good cheese selections aside from Picholine and Gramercy Tavern?

Terrance Brenan, the owner of Picholine, is supposed to be opening a restaurant called Artisan in the old An American Place space on 32nd and Park Avenue. It is meant to be a wine bar with brasserie food and an emphasis on cheese. Does anyone know the status of it?
