I combine my love of good food with a wine hobby that has become a passion. I am part of a wine tasting group that meets monthly. We take turns acting as organizer, who picks the theme (e.g., '97 Cabernet or Australian Shiraz, etc.) and choses a Manhattan restaurant as the forum. This month, it's my turn to organize.
I'm looking for a restaurant that is amenable to patrons bringing their own wine. Some restaurants permit this, but charge a hefty corkage fee ($20/bottle). I am looking for a restaurant that charges, ideally, no corkage, or perhaps low ($5/bottle) corkage.
We would be as few as ten people, as many as thirty. We don't need a private room, but would need a rather large table or two.
The cuisine should be wine-friendly. Thus, excessively spiced cuisine (Indian, etc.) is out.
The restaurant should be in Manhattan, hopefully in a not-too-remote location.
Keeping it under $50/person, all inclusive, would be great.
