Sudanese food truck in Durham

There is finally a Middle Eastern store in Durham, Taiba Market, across from the mosque on Chapel Hill St. In their parking lot a Sudanese family is operating a food truck. They are obviously new to the business as they didn't even have a menu available. With help from a Yemeni man who was also getting food I ordered a lamb shawarma. I enjoyed it very much. The marinated lamb was cooked with tomatoes and onions, and the salad not only had lettuce and tomato, but also parsley, mint, and pickled veggies, and also tahini dressing on the side. A whole lot of flavor going on. They also offered me a falafel. It was in a shape I hadn't seen before, like a mini doughnut, which makes a lot of sense because, it was nicely cooked through without being overly cooked on the outside. If you go, be patient with them because ordering my be a little bit of a challenge (they do speak English) and the food is cooked to order. But the people are lovely, trying to realize the American Dream making tasty food and thus worthy of support.
