The recipe I'm making (Thai tofu with coconut-red curry sauce) calls for chili paste. I wound up purchasing red curry paste (from Thailand) instead. Can I subsitute? I wasn't sure about the fiery chili paste anyway, since two of the diners don't like really spicy. The curry paste is made of chili, garlic, shallot, lemongrass, sugar and galangal.
