Had an excellent meal on Friday night at Stone Park. Dispite what I've read about the service, I have to say my experience was quite the contrary. We were seated immediatly, and our waiter was attentive, charming, and very friendly.
Now, the chow. Started off with the marrow and short rib "sandwich" appetizers. The marrow was not really my thing (too much work) but interesting and not repulsive, as I originally thought it would be. The short rib app was wonderful, the meat melted in your mouth and the quail egg added a very interesting touch. I will continue to dream about this dish.
For entrees, I ordered the cod that came in a very nice, subtle broth with manila clams and bacon. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the broth delectable. My friend ordered the scallops which were plump and very fresh. The dish had a nice spice due to the chorizo.
The only dissapointment was the dessert, which was ok but not mind blowing and inevitably forgettable. We ordered the chocolate praline tart. After dessert we were able to linger and enjoy the last of our champagne. I think Stone Park is a very warm and inviting restaurant, a great place for a special occassion or just a nice, casual meal. I found the prices reasonable for the quality. Can't wait to go back and try their brunch!
