I always put a stirrer in a cocktail that comes in a rocks (lowball, old-fashioned) glass. Tonight someone told me not to put a stirrer in single spirit drinks i.e. vodka rocks. When I asked why he said because there isn't a reason to stir without another ingredient. I can think of a few reasons you might want a stirrer in your vodka rocks... to chill your drink faster, to melt your ice into water faster and the interaction between you the ice and the spirit (habit). I know I'm over thinking this small detail but I'd like any insight you might have.
