Steakhouse For Non-Steak Eaters

I've never been a steak house fan for a number of reasons. If I'm spending a large sum of money on food, I want to have something interesting, something that shows the skill and personality of a chef. I also find a 12 oz and up hunk of protein excessive; after a couple of bites, I've experienced what I need to experience. I prefer smaller portions of really extraordinary food. Or, frankly, a really good taco for 1/60 of the price of the steak.

At any rate, an out-of-town relative is visiting, and New York is famous for its steakhouses, so we're going. Is there a good "compromise" place? A place with high quality, well-aged meat that is cooked correctly, but where the rest of the menu is interesting? There's a Greek joint in Queens that might be the place. Anything in Manhattan might be better, though(he's an out-of-towner, remember, and as much as I like Queens, tourists don't come here to see the bright lights of Long Island City).

Or should I suck it up and go to Spark's?
