I'm an Atlanta girl (who previously lived in Orlando for 7 years), moving from Atlanta down to St. Pete, 4th and 7th area. I'll be going to school near Egypt Lake in Tampa. I read the 2007 St. Pete thread but I'm wondering what's new and what's still around?
I'm spoiled up here in Atlanta with our awesome farmers market open year round offering an international assortment of cheap grains, vegetables, and spices, etc. What are my best non-commercial options in the Tampa Bay Area?
I'm interested in good seafood, ethnic cuisines (I gotta have Korean, Italian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Indian, Latin American and I'm really hoping for Spanish), dive bars, healthy/vegetarian, wine and beer bars.
Also, I'll need to suss out some proper ethnic markets. I'm hoping to find some supermercados and a few good Asian markets with prepared foods. Anyone familiar with H-Mart outside of Atlanta? I'd love something similar. I don't cook many Asian things at home but I love being able to pick up some marinated meats or some radish kimchi.
Any good chef driven small restaurants, too! I love small plates and a well made cocktail or a glass of wine.
Thanks for reading and I can't wait to explore my new city!
