A friend and I are traveling in March and will be going through Rome for 4 days en route from Egypt. She has never been to Italy, so as a Christmas gift, I would like to give her a 'voucher' for a special dining experience in Rome on me.
It has been 7 years since my last visit to Rome, and I was on a pretty tight budget then - ate mostly at cafes and enotecas. This time I am looking for something that is a bit more of a splurge, where we can have a few courses each and a bottle of wine for about E300-.
Looking more for the rustic, traditional type place, rather than something uber-trendy. We are not a couple - romantic is fine, but not a requirement! All the places I have found online seem to be super trendy or over the top fancy. Ambiance, food, wine & service all important. Celebrity sighting and stuffy waiters are not!
Thanks in advance for your advice, Chowhounds!!
