Un In-Spire-d? A bit...

Went to Spire the first time today for brunch. Walked in to a very quiet restaurant with only one table occupied by a single diner. Beautiful decor, lovely views, with a great wine list... at amazingly high prices. We all dined on eggs - omelets, benedict, scrambled. My omelet had mushrooms, onions, and cheese, presented in a beautiful prepared fluffy egg. It was really delicious. The toast came with butter and delicious blueberry jam - tasted like the really nice homemade stuff you get from Formaggio's.

The one big downer of the meal was the waiter. He forgot my drink order. And then messed up another's omelet order. She was very gracious about the mixup, but the waiter didn't even apologize. He just took the omelet and then brought out the right one. The wait for food was long, the wait for drink refills even longer, and the wait for the check was a mini eternity. All this would have been understandable if not acceptable if the restaurant was full - even partially full... but we were the only table nearly the entire meal! Will we go back??

Probably, for the food was good and the prices reasonable. But we will be hoping for a different server next time. And we definitely won't go for the wine - while we loved the list, the prices were so atrocious, we couldn't begin to enjoy the bottle knowing how much we were paying for it. For example, a glass of Veuve Cliquot was $26... that's 4 times the amount you would pay at Troquet or Silvertones!!
