A while back, the New York Times had a piece of chefs moonlighting for rich folk - for 5 or 6-figure fees.
Well,I went for Lunch today at Spicy Mina.
I was the lone diner for the 45 min I was there.
Two ladies in the kitchen - I suppose one was Mina - were occupied solely preparing my lunch!!!
The main dishes came after about 20-25 min - no problem I had the NYT and as well I was given parathas with 3 chutneys for starters, delicious, delicious.
The main dishes, chicken curry, daal fry, aloo veg - absolutely transcendant.
Much too much for one person but I finished everything as I was embarrassed on a $6.99 Lunch to ask for take-away.
Then desert,I think gulab jamun,delicious.
What a class act, what an experience,a kitchen with a brilliant chef, all alone, and all for $6.99!!!
Obviously,if you chowhounds don't go out there and chow, this place, this experience is ended.
I have quite a few good lunch experiences including quite expensive places - nothing compares to U Mina.
