Planning a birthday weekend for my sweetie. I thought we'd stay in town and eat our way through NYC! I can't think of a better community to appeal to for inspired restaurant suggestions. I've scoured your message boards. It seems I should stay away from Babbo and Il Mulino.
So. Here are the gaps in the eating itinerary:
*I need a 40th-birthday-celebration-worthy restaurant for Friday night Jan 4th. Cozy, romantic, Italian, sweet -- not snobby or stuffy, and, of course, sublimely delicious. Would love to find an Italian counterpart to Le Gigot. (Which is where I'd go if it were my birthday...) Figured we'd dine post-theater.
*Looking for a yummy and interesting place up in Harlem. We'll be at Lenox Lounge later in the evening. Sylvia's has disappointed so many times, it's not a contender. I've eaten at Bayou and really liked it, but want to solicit suggestions before I make a decision. Anyone been to Amy Ruth's? Thought of Wells -- but am concerned about the touristy nature. Thoughts?
*For Sunday following Bargemusic, any suggestions for a final weekend-wrapup dinner in DUMBO?
Help please. And thank you for your thoughts!!! Amy
