Special dinner but not too heavy

I'm looking for a restaurant recommendation. It's our anniversary so I want someplace special. I'm an ex-Manhattanite now in the CT 'burbs with a young child so even though we get into the city alot, we don't get to go to fancy restaurants in NYC much anymore. However, my husband doesn't like classic French food, and we're also going to the Carribean soon after, so we're both trying to be good. One dinner is just one dinner, but still...

I'm thinking innovative seafood, maybe a tasting menu. We both love ethnic of all kinds, so Greek or Spanish (or any other ethnic) would also be fine but maybe not special enough. I was thinking maybe RM's tasting menu?.... Asian is fine -- I love keiseki but my husband less so -- but we already do sushi alot. Creative, unusual, distinctive is a plus. Also, I have less than a week to get the rez, but we're flexible as to the time. Any suggestions? Oh, and we're both absolute foodies so we'd prefer excellent food over "romantic" atmosphere if it's an either/or. Cost is not really a factor. I assume any place like this will have a decent wine selection. Thanks for your suggestions!
