Had a TERRIFIC meal there last night..
The restaurant is divided into two sections, one that holds the "deli" and the other the wine bar/evening restaurant. Far more than a take out place, we started our meal at the wine bar where my family and I sampled about 6 different wines availible on the menu...we moved to our table where three of us had a wine flights (10$ for 3) and ordered the cheese platter (3 cheeses for 12 dollars-I think) The platter came with the most fantastic date spread I have ever eaten, as well as sherry braised apricots and slices of pink lady apple. Cheeses were great, well aged, and beautifully complimented by the condiments.
Main courses were exciting, fun and filled with unique food pairings. I had the "Lobster laqured duck" an amazing laqurer-seared breast of duck served atop duck confit green lentils and poached pears. Mom had what she described as "the best lamb shank i've ever eaten" served atop spiced couscous; pop had the "Cohiba Steak", not sure what cut it was, but it had a spice rub that included yes, cohiba cigar ash...delicious. Boyfriend had the Hanger Steak and escargot ...ingenious take on surf and sand and, aside from the plating, was impeccable.
Dessert was a cobbler for mom and pop and a take on Smores for the dude and I. Homemade kasha graham crackers, homeade marshmallow fluffy stuff and XO chocolate with chili's. Not yer grandpa's Smore, that's for sure.
I don't know how well this place does, as it was pretty empty on a Thursday night. I only hope that a fan base exists so that this joint will be around for years to come. One of the best meals I've had in quite a while and I highly reccommend.
