Southern Cafe Soul Food

went here tonight in oakland's dimond district. the restaurant itself is pretty divey with autographed pictures of well-known black folks. only take-out was being served tonight. i waited 45mins-1hr (no exaggeration) for an order of fried chicken with mac n' cheese, cabbage and rice with gravy. when i got back to my pad--to my dismay--there was no fried chicken to be found. i immediately called them and was put on hold for 5-10 minutes (no exaggeration) before i got through. to make a long story short, i eventually got my greasy, grubby fingers on some pretty darn good fried chicken. the sides were mediocre except the braised cabbage concotion which was quite good with a tinge of heat. my verdict? very good fried chicken, but im not sure if i would go through that hassle again unless i was listening to some rick james or stevie wonder high as hell.
