Thank you to all who gave suggestions for dining for a mixed vegetarian/non-veg couple. We stayed at Howden B&B in Sheffield (highly recommended, excellent breakfasts featuring their own fresh eggs).

Ate dinner at Xicotentatl in Great Barrington - excellent Oaxacan Mexican food, enjoyed appetizer of avocado salad on the porch in the evening sun, then moved inside for supper (whole trout in salsa verde, nice and spicy and tart with tomatillos, partner had a wild mushroom plate that he enjoyed.

Had a lunch at Love Dog Cafe in Lenox - raves from the vegetarian who ate a tempeh Mexican platter with salad, rice, beans - looked very tasty. I enjoyed a Moroccan mint tea and a good tarragon chicken salad sandwich. Nice atmosphere too.

Birthday dinner at Verdura in Great Barrington - again, the vegetarian very happy with his choice, the non-veg less thrilled (for the price) -- bass in parchment with pesto topping and spring vegetables - a little too spa-ish for me. Excellent wild mushroom soup though, and very nice wines by the glass.

Finally, a nice lunch at Mom's Restaurant in South Egremont - especially enjoyed the BLT with avocado on whole wheat, excellent bread and friendly service.
