some reviews of places i ate:
miami: a calle ocho joint/diner near domino park (not the goofy new TETE--was it called EXCELSIO?). very disappointing media noche especial sandwhich. stale bread, bad lunchmeat & only 2 pickles?? i can get way better a couple blocks from me at HAVANA CHELSEA. i got a coco frio drink (a whacked coconut) near there too and it was great on a hot day.
lincoln mall: thank you DAVID'S for the excellent cafe cubano. as for the rest of the mall, well i dunno. nice to see they fixed it up looks great.
miami beach: THE DINER. swell breakfast. in nyc you forget what good bacon looks like in our dismal diners. bonus points for the tasty grits and rum bloody. aww WOLFIE'S was closed, and where'd all the old folks go?
lake worth the good: JOHN G's great fried fish%chips. i don't like steak fries but these were well done. and the feesh wuz butta. had the fried clams another day, a step down but good. good service. also, TWO JAY'S was a nice brunch spot. i liked my turkey club. they roll the turkey around the blt. cute. good fresh rye bread. more great bacon.
lake worth the bad: that greek place on the pier. dolphin sandwich made me sick & they bumped up the bill. good conch fitters though, nice&spicy.
lake worth the ugly: PINEAPPLE GRILLE. rare grilled tuna came out starkist on a saltlick of greasy veggies. ugh.
wpb the good: SPOTO'S RAW BAR. great fried oysters. dolphin sandwich of your dreams. well chosen beer selection. i also liked the old bay shrimp and tuna pate app. on an earlier lunch visit. the CITY GRILL (?) upstairs restaurant in the new mall downtown was good too. very nice sashimi-rare grilled tuna as requested. tasty greens and portobello sides. kind of cheesy decor and the nice yet annoying waiter tried to give us the 'up-sell' at every stage. go but beware.
wpb the awful: TWO GIRLS NY PIZZA. please morph up into a SBARRO. inedible.
that's all folks. next year i'll try some more spots when i'm down there. had a great time, especially boating on the new river in lauderdale. wow nice houses!
