Source for restaurant-quality veggies

Can someone give me some suggestions on how to get restaurant-quality produce? I live in Palo Alto and find that my local Whole Foods, Andronico's, Draeger's markets all have the same produce that costs a lot but has very little taste this time of year. I want some really nice veggies and lettuce for a Christmas meal. Any great ideas to get my hands on the tasty veggies that my favorite restaurant serve?
