I've seen a few mentions of Soprano's pizza being "very good, but not quite New York" pizza. I personally could not care less about authenticity if it is good, since even tolerable slices of pizza are nonexistent in downtown Oakland... so I was wondering if any had tried this place, and if it was at least decent.
It's on 23rd near Webster, in a place that I could have sworn was a Portofino -- which is why I stayed away. Online searches reveal very little about this place in the location that used to be Vachi's. (ah, Vachi's...)
(Other pizza? Cybelle's at 20th+Telegraph used to be tolerable, but is long gone. Do not mention Mr. Pizza Man on Broadway, or the place that used to be in city center. Da Vinci's on 19th is pricy and, last time I asked, did not offer pizzas to go?)
