We hadn't been there in years but fondly remembering their famed garlic bread (but not too much about the food) we went there Sat. There were 10 of us, including an elderly Aunt and our grandkids from Las Vegas.
The place is considered a top eatery but it was surprisingly empty for a Sat. night.
The service and staff was excellent; no complaint there and the garlic bread is still fantastic. The only real "beef" we have is that the prime rib doesn't live up to their hype. The menu claims it is a 'house specialty' but my wife and I found it to be just an ordinary piece of meat; nothing special about it. There was no hint of any seasoning on it. The best prime rib I've ever had was coated with rock salt before roasting. It forms a crust that enhances the taste.
There were no other complaints. The Aunt had the bbq tri-tip sandwich and wound up taking most of it home with her. In fact, we all took home unfinished portions. My younger son ordered the Steak Sinatra (with peppers and onions) and promptly renamed it the "Flank Sinatra" steak. His partner ordered the beef stroganoff and thoroughly enjoyed it.
There were 2 childs portions. My granddaughter was the subject of another post of mine regarding restaurants that will accommodate people with food allergies. They do care and will work with you to eliminate the risk.
Drinks were non-alcoholic with free refills. Total bill was just under $300; roughly 25/person, which is not unreasonable.
We would probably go back, but not for the prime rib.
