Small Report on Quick Trip

I was just in NO over the last weekend. Sadly, not even a full weekend, but from Saturday evening til Monday morning.

Hotel was so-so. The hotel was Place de'Armes. Some of the rooms looked wonderful, location was great, courtyard beautiful. Our room was a box. It was a suite, but with only a view of a nearby roof and you had to climb into the window 'hall' to see that. The maid made the bed, but that was it..and I mean it. The desk said we had to request more then that.

Food was wonderful! We ate casually most of the time. I had oysters at Acme! I had never really tried them on the halfshell before but after reading posts here about them I had to take the plunge. They tasted exactly as someone else here described them 'like the sea itself'. Acme's jambalaya was out of this world! We had to order more. We also had this catfish po'boy that just melted in my mouth.

We tried Felix's the next day and the food was just as good I thought. Less crowded, no wait, a little less atmosphere. Pro's and con's to each, but two excellent restaurants for the price and location.

The surprise of the trip was the Funky Butt. We were a little peckish when we got there for a 10 pm show so I tried their crawfish cakes. What can I say? They were the best thing I ate the whole time there. These crawfish cakes are worth the trip to the Funky Butt even if there was no music. (Music was great too). My husband had a crawfish pasta there and a fudge desert, he enjoyed both very much. Prices were reasonable there as well for both food and drinks. I think our bill ended up 60 and that included 4 or 5 beers and 4 hurricanes and food. (What can I say about that many drinks, we were there for awhile with the music and dancing. )
