Best (Skinny) French Fries and Kingfish Review

Took my GF to Kingfish on King St for dinner last night. I hadn't heard anything about this place, but noticed it while driving by and decided to give it a shot. I actually really like the space, kind of a Soma meets the French Quarter vibe, but the menu didn’t match the theme. Other than an oyster bar, one gumbo ($25), and one jambalaya ($22.95), there wasn’t much on the menu that was even arguably Cajun/Creole.

Ultimately, we decided to split the Vietnamese Style Baby Romaine, Pomello and Chile Salad. Again, didn’t seem very southern, but actually pretty good. I would give it a “B” Basically a romaine/citrus salad with a fairly spicy dressing. I would have it again.

For our main course, neither of us were very inspired by much and $25 for gumbo seemed a bit high. So, for the first time in what seems like years, we ordered hamburgers. The hamburger was fine, but the fries were some of the better ones I’ve had in awhile, thin crispy and not greasy.

Which leads me to the real reason for my post – where are the “best” french fries in the City?
