Sumptious restaurant located in the heart of Kampong Glam, Singapore's Arab-Malay quarter, in the shadow of the Sultan Mosque.
What we had:
- Terung Bestari: spicy-sour purple aubergines, with a distinct tomatoey, garlicky flavor, further enhanced with chopped coriander leaves.
- Ayam Rendang: chicken, cooked in a thickened dry-ish curry preparation, full of flavors from the use of fresh lemongrass, galangal, fresh coriander and spices. Best dish this evening.
- Ikan Merah Masak Assam Pedas: red snapper fillets, cooked with a spicy-tamarind flavored sauce.
- Sambal Telur: Hard-boiled eggs, prepared a la minute - smothered in a tasty, chilli paste.
- Turmeric-flavored rice.
It's a halal restaurant, so no alcohol is served.
