My wife and I somehow got ourselves invited to a party on the Upper West Side Friday night, and the hosts had the party catered by Shun Lee West. We've never been to Shun Lee West (we hardly ever get to the Upper West Side, being from Brooklyn and working in lower Manhattan), but the appetizers were exceptionally good, so we thought.
And the best of the appetizers were the shrimp balls, which knocked everyone out. (I know chowhounds everywhere understand that by "shrimp balls", I am referring to minced shrimp rolled into a ball with other ingredients and not an anatomical part of the shrimp ;-))
The smoked duck and the Szechuan won tons were up there, too, but those shrimp balls... So now we have to plan an outing to Shun Lee West to try them again.
Anyone have any opinions on SLW? Any other dishes that we shouldn't miss?
