I've been hearing rumblings about this great malaysian place on Major Mackenzie and Bayview so we went to check it out last night. It's located in the strip mall on the south side of Major Mac, East of Bayview, nex to the Esso.
We arrived at 7pm on Thursday and the place was packed with at least 6-8 people in front of us. We were told the wait would be approximately 30 mins so we decided to get take out since everything smelled so good!
We waited approximately 20-25 mins for our food. While we waited I ordered the Mango Freezey which is simply a mango shake with no milk, typical of the drinks you can get at most SE Asian restuarants. Nothing special there. We got our food and headed out, some of the people who were ahead of us were still waiting for their tables, so their 30 min estimated waiting time is accurate. Also, the place is small, I think it would hold about 50?
On the way home, my wife cracks open the food to start eating. We ordered the Thai Spring Rolls for an appetizer which contained chicken. This was something new for us as we rarely have had a spring roll which had chicken. The roll was very tasty, but the sauce was a little on the sweet side for me.
We had also ordered two other dishes, Nasi Goring and the Cocunut Curry Chicken (listed in the menu by it's Malaysian name which escapes me)
The Nasi Goring was excellent. Fried perfectly, just a little bit spicy, and the shrimps were huge. It's been a long time since I've have Nasi Goring, but this dish was stir fried very well, almost no grease. We were happy campers. The Cocnut Curry actually had the cocunut infused into the white rice as well, let me tell you I could have has the rice by itself it was so yummy. The curry was ok, but when combined, it was heaven. The chicken pieces could be sliced smaller, but I'm reaching for something to complain about! :)
Total for the 3 dishes and drink was $28 so I am happy with the price as well. All in all, I would definately go again!
