As I was a big fan of Sushi Yasu, I decided to give Shimizu Sushi a try. Glad I did. Excellent sushi and a great value for what you get. Now, its not as cheap as your average corner sushi joint, but the quality doesn't compare. Definitely compares with Sushi Yasu's quality, which, for comparison purposes, was probably a half notch below Sushi Seki, IMHO.
I had the chef's special sushi platter which consisted of 10 pcs and a roll, including a beautiful piece of toro as well as a toro roll. Presentation was stellar as well. For two people, we also had a Sashimi entree a seared tuna salad, a seaweed salad and an order of edamae. The bill came to about $66 before tip.
Big bonus right now is that it is BYOB (thanks to others on this board for pointing that out) as they don't have their liquor license yet --which makes a previously excellent meal and good value and outstanding value.
Hopefully Shimizu is able to thrive as there is really no other quality sushi spots in the neighborhood.
