Shaver Lake/Sierra House Revisited

Well, we were up at Huntington Lake for the weekend and decided to stop at The Sierra House for dinner since we had enjoyed it so much on Mother's Day. There were five of us and we were seated at a very nice table near the back.

Everything was different, the service was horrible with the place only have about a half a dozen diners, and there was a different feel to the place.

It took forever to get our food, our water glasses were empty most of the meal. When our food arrived, the portions were very small, the chicken was rather tough and the garlic mashed potatoes were not the same as before. I had a cup of the baked potato soup that was bland and tasteless.

I apologized to my dining companions and tried to convince them the place really was good last time we were there. I thought maybe there was a different cook that night.

What's really funny is that the waitress told us at the end of the meal the other chef had quit and there was a new female chef from Visalia in the kitchen now.

Maybe things will improve as she gets used to the new place, but it just wasn't up to standard as the previous dining experience. Mediocre to say the least which is a shame. We'll probably just stick to our old-time favorite The Lakeshore Resort for our nice meals out in the area. And I wonder where the old chef went? I'd like to find that out, also. ***kim***
