Shanghai in Oakland

yimster | Dec 4, 2004 11:40 PM

Tonight seven old hounds and four friends had dinner at the Shanghai in Oakland. We order nothing ahead of time but just took the staff recommendations and read what was posted on the walls. This was a last minute idea for a dinner for those who did not want to cook.

Started with these cold dishes.

Jelly Fish
Honey Roast Duck Tongues
Half a Drunken Chicken
Mock Chicken
Large Seaweed tied in knots
Pork Ears strips
Snow Cabbage with Tofu.

One and half order of Loin’s Head Soup
Yellow Eels with Yellow Chives
Red Braised Pork Shank
Shanghai Fried Rice
Two orders of little steamed buns
Bamboo shoots, tofu and pork strips stir fry
Garlic Baby Mustard Greens

Squash Flour Red Bean Paste Cakes
Red Bean crepe

These menu cost us $16.00 each with a good tip. If I left off any dishes please add them on.

Very good comfort food on a cold night, I will reserve me comments after some of the others get first licks.
