San Francisco Kitchen has expanded and now has shabu shabu, a Japanese hot-pot style dish where various meats and veggies are swished around in hot broth, dipped in sauces and eaten. The tables have built-in heating units, and stainless bowls filled with a choice of kimchi (spicy) or miso broth are brought to the table. Meat choices include rib-eye, chicken, lamb, seafood, and ostrich. Veggies include bok choy, enoki mushrooms, carrots, and spinach, served with a side of udon noodles. Dipping sauce was soy-based with ginger and a heavy dollop of chopped garlic--great stuff. The food was delicious, and it's fun to share in the communal activity of cooking at the table. Now that the weather is getting cooler, this is a great choice for a hearty, warming meal.
