SHABU SHABU at KAGAYA inside Honda Plaza

I was down in J Town for shabu shabu at Shabu Shabu House the Japanese Village. The wait was at least an hour so we decided to walk around and look for new grub.I remembered a friend telling me that he had reall good shabu shabu at a place in Honda Plaza. He said it was better than Shabu ShabuHouse but very expensive. I was thinking, how much more can it be?Maybe a couple dollars more.Shabu Shabu House was 15 so 5 bucks more 15+5=20.I was thinking it was probaly 20 bucks so i can afford it. Once I sat down and saw the menu I wanted to get up and leave but was too embarrassed. Te shabu shabu range from $38, to $100 dollars. They even carried Opus One.I'm so used to paying $15 for Shabu Shabu. The 38 dollar was for regular beef,in between price range was for seafood and beef,$100 dollar was for Kobe beef. At first I thought I was getting ripped off but the entree came with several fantastic appertizers and desert. The appetizer varies each night and they make them in front of you. At the end of the shabu shabu they make either udon or porrige with your soup.Desert was very good too. My friend had the seafood which included king crab, fresh oyster and clams. The seafood was so fresh and the crab so sweet. The quality of beef here is better than Shabu Shabu house.Theentree came with alot of food so it was worth the extra money. It was a very unique experince. I also got to see a regular at KAGAYA eating Shabu Shabu and her method was very amusing. Compare to me it is was at art form.Totaly different eating method than mines. Maybe when I become a regular I'll eat like her .
