I lived in Santa Rosa from 2000 to 2002. I'm now in Fort Worth, TX. A dear friend of mine in Santa Rosa is battling cancer and a bunch of us "horse people" are doing a benefit auction 916/11 in Rancho Murieta for him and two others..
I'm using the excuse of "Helping" with the auction to fly back to CA but in reality it is to see my friend. He's going through chemo and sleeps a lot. I don't want to impose on his family, and it will be emotionally tough on me, but I need to be strong and want this trip to be really positive for him.
I don't want to waste a minute of my visit to CA, and so being the "foodie" I am, I'm planning my time in CA from the very moment I get my bags and car at SFO (my plane lands at 5:20PM Thursday) until I board my return flight at 5:20PM on Monday.
Thursday leaving SFO and heading to Rancho Murieta at approximately 6PM will be horrible, so I'd love some suggestions for food heading that way. I'll be in Rancho Murieta until Saturday morning but then I'm open for any and all suggestions for anything until I head back to SFO on Monday afternoon.
I'd be more interested in "grazing'" than major meals. Grab some fresh seafood and some sourdough (too bad dungeness crab season isn't until November), nigiri sushi, dim sum, etc., Italian anything, I'm open for tasting menus at wineries. Also any festivals going on this weekend.
My main focus is to visit my friend, and just spend as much time as possible with him, but I don't think he will be up to much visiting and I don't want to be a burden on his family.
Cafe Citti in Kenwood was always a favorite of mine, Traverso's in Santa Rosa, a place in Ronhert Park had decent sushi, I just would like some foodie suggestions since it seems the entire time I lived in Santa Rosa I never could afford to enjoy the area.
