I just moved to SF and am looking for some locals' favorites. All types of food are welcome. I have heard most of the "big names" (Gary Danko, Fifth Floor, etc.). But, I would love any personal accounts from these places. Also, I would really appreciate any smaller "neighborhood" finds.
My five days in SF have included:
Baraka (good, but pricey), Chez Maman (cosy and tasty), Pomelo (decent), and Ella's (nice atmosphere and good coffee, but eggs were from a carton, I think).
On a previous trip I hit Dottie's (omelettes and coffee cake: loved it), Zuni Cafe (loved that chicken and the great sourdough bread) and Slanted Door (fun scene at the Ferry Bldg, but less impressed with the food. How was the old location?).
Does anyone have some commentary on Slow Club? How about Helmand? Truly Mediterranean? Is La Taqueria or Taqueria Cancun better, or something else? I would also love some recs for "authentic" Chinese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese.
