Seekin a casual Italian place for pre-marathon dinner

This NYC ‘hound is looking for an Italian restaurant where I can eat dinner the (Saturday) night before the Chicago Marathon in October. Great pasta in a casual and relaxing setting is what I’m after. Since I expect the popular and well-known Italian restaurants to be packed with carbo-loading runners that night, I’d really like to go somewhere that’s out of the way, under-recognized, or otherwise unlikely to draw a big crowd. For all this, I’m willing to take a cab ride costing about $10 from my hotel, and to spend up to $40 per person.(Normally I’m cheap, but for a pre-race dinner I don’t mind spending extra.) I’m staying in the South Loop, at the corner of S. Dearborn and W. Congress Parkway.
