Dear Seattle Hounds:
I am interested in hearing about others' experience with the September Dinner at 8 restaurant promotion. Has anyone had a particularly good or particularly bad experience? Disappointed by the offerings on the prix fixe menu? Impressed by a new restaurant? Found good value for the price?
For example, I have tried the dinner at Spice, and was pleased to see that most of the menu was featured on the promotion. They were out of the ginger bananas foster dessert, which I wanted to try, but graciously brought out a chai creme brulee (the custard was a tad overcooked). I thought the food was good, if not exceptional, found the dinner promotion very generous, and would consider returning.
Because I was in the neighborhood, I also went to Bicks, in Greenwood. In addition to regular menu items, they had created specials for the Dinner at 8 menu (notably, a blackberry BBQ ribs with cornbread and an excellent cabbage salad). A nice, low-key neighborhood joint.
