I still am fairly new in town(I am originally from OC) and I am searching for a mexican spot similar to LA's and OC's El Gallo Giro...boy I miss that spot(not to mention SHin Sen Gumi, and HondaYa/Kappo Honda, lol...but thats a different topic that has yet to be resolved). ..
.anyways, I tried Super Cocina today and it really didnt impress at all...i tried a combo plate of the carnitas(good, but ive had better) and also the goat soup which was very nice and soft. Tis good, but i doubt if I will be returning if that tells you anything. But I am craving El Gallo GIro type food with more choices and textures. I loved Giro's greasy Gordita (the real gordita sandwich i assume), Torta Cubana, thick rolled tacos, powdery and addicting handmade flour tortillas, tastey-hi-quality-humongous tamales and so on and so on...
I also tried Mama Testas..wow. This place left a special place in me. I am definitely gonna be back and try more of their plenty choices. Even their salsa bar is different...i love the sesame salsa. Even though all they serv is tacos, im pretty sure most of you never heard of the different offerings in their menu. You can just taste the quality in their food and tell its made with love, good meat and non-watered down marinades.
.but still, back to the topic, help me find a place similar to El Gallo Giro (110% quality, delicious, various menu, original, cheap and unique) in the SD!?!
