So with much anxiety, my fiancee and I went to Fincan the other night, the former Kazan on Queens Blvd. The menus were the same, with the old name on them and everything. The decor was basically the same, but we noticed that the back wall is opened up so that you can see into the kitchen.
My fiancee wanted the salmon, but the guy (a new face) explained that there were no fish available tonight. He added, though, that soon they would have several new special fish dishes added to the menu. He mentioned a fish with a turkish name that I can't remember, fresh anchovies, and Mediterranean Sea Bass. So that sounds promising! We ordered hummus, then two of the chicken dishes, and everything was as good as when the place was Kazan.
We talked with the guy who took our orders at the end of the night, and he explained that he became partners with the original owner. He's planning to change the menu in the next few weeks, adding these new fish and some other dishes as well.
So it seems like all is OK! We were happy with our meal and my man is psyched about the fresh anchovies- he's never heard of that in a restaurant and is looking forward to it.
