A new Jamaican restaurant, Irie Cafe, just opened in Schaumburg (actually it opened today) at 937 S Roselle Rd. (847.524.4743) (next to the Bavarian Haus german restaurant and by the Taco Bell, for those who know Schaumburg). Apparently the owner formerly owned a Jamaican place in Chicago near Clark and Wilson (I didn't catch the name of it). It's nice that Schaumburg is finally getting a wider variety of places to eat beyond the chains and the good Indian restaurants.
Since I happened to be the first customer ever they were still getting their act together, but I had the oxtails (which were fall off the bone tender), rice & red beans, fried plantains and a bottle of Ting ($11.50 total). On weekend (Sat. & Sun.) evenings they were advertising an all-you-can-eat buffet (you probably should call to see when this starts, as they are so new).
Hopefully they'll get supported and be around for awhile.
They have a website:
