We just got back from a week in Savannah. Never got around to making notes so I'm going to give a brief review using the checks to jog my memory. Probably a separate post for each place, may take a day or two to get them all up.
First night, Local 11ten. Our first visit to this restaurant.
We both started with a spicy pumpkin soup, it actually was fairly spicy, and was very rich and tasty.
I had a seared duck breast, perfectly cooked medium rare, with grits and braised turnip greens. My only complaint was that the greens were slightly tough. All in all though it was a very good and satisfying dish.
My wife had the braised bison ribs with cheese curd and chive mashed potatoes, frisee, wild mushrooms and a chorizo veloute. This dish was just unbelievably good, I would say in the top five best ever for me.
Our soup and entrees were both very generous servings.
For dessert we shared an apple tart. Neither of us cared for it at all. It was a small tart shell with what seemed to me to be uncooked apple pie filling (sans apple) and then it had a thinly sliced, raw, granny smith apple on top. Our server noted that they should give a better description of this particular dessert because other people have also been surprised by the raw apple.
The room is beautiful and the service was excellent.
We will be back. Based on this one visit, Local 11ten moves to the top of my list of Savannah restaurants.
