Sato in Rego Park

A friend of mine went to this Japanese place yesterday and said he spent an hour talking to the chef, Sato. Sato said that when he originally opened, he offered more inventive items, but the tastes of the local customers were so conservative that he discontinued them. I wonder if this is a similar phenomenon with Park Slope's 7th Ave.
