Sapori Italian Restaurant (review)

I made quite a discovery recently. In Fisherman's Village in Marina Del Rey is a fairly new Italian restaurant with a nice decor and lots of window tables and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg for dinner. We started with an Antipasto Salad with good quality meats, marinated vegetables, olives and mixed greens. We also ordered the Sapori Salad that is a combination of Roasted Beets, caramelized nuts, goat cheese and mixed greens. It is a good start for the meal. The owner, Stefano, goes out of his way to make sure that you have a good experience here. We let him pick a full bodied red wine in a $30.00 price range. It was a good choice and it is served in very good quality stemware. On my first visit I had a pasta with Rabbit that was really good. Wife had nice potatoey Gnocci on the first visit and a Pasta with Pesto and Potato on the last visit. For my recent visit I had a whole cooked Branzino served with roasted veggies and potatoes. The fish was perfectly cooked, very fresh and filleted tableside and the veggies and the natural juices were just excellent. It is served for 2. I would get it again. On first visit we had a large portion of Tiramisu that was nicely done. Last visit we had a Peach Sorbetto. It was basically frozen Peach foam served inside a totally tasteless frozen Peach. Unfortunately a total waste of time. Still an excellent meal in a nice room with a killer view of the water. Dinner for 2 with wine runs about $65.00. An affordable little get away or even a good place to take out of town guests. You can take a nice after dinner stroll along the water. This is a major step up from the food at El Torito or Shanghai Red's.
