After the devastating Zaca fire closed access to the beloved Cold Springs Tavern off San Marcos Pass (Highway 154), everything is now open, but a little lonely now that many still do not know it is operating full time.
The drive is green and lovely, the historic ambiance it fully intact. Just the crowds are missing. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was good and comforting. Companion had the wild boar, I had the portobello raviloi in cream sauce, along with their yummy house chili and a shared plate of sausage stuffed mushrooms.
Hope everyone makes a point revisiting this special place to help make up for all that down time they were forced to endure to help keep the roads open for all the wonderful and courageous fire personnel that kept lives and property loss to a minimum during this long ordeal.
