My fiance and I just returned from San Francisco and we're going to be making another visit in a few weeks to see if we really like it enough to move there. We'll be there only for a couple of days, and really 6 meals: lunch and dinner on Saturday, all day Sunday, and breakfast Monday.
Last time, we had a very good dinner at Ristorante Milan in North Beach and a pretty good dinner at Catch in the Castro. I had great sushi at Kyoya in the Palace Hotel. We also went to Ferry Market and stuffed ourselves with, among other things, Acme sourdough.
Looking for recommendations for good eats while we're there. We're from Chicago, where you can find surprisingly good bagels, so I'd like to try the best San Francisco has to offer. (It would actually be a strike against moving if I can't get good bagels.) A quick Chowhound search suggested Manhattan Bagel and House of Bagels, but I'm certainly open to other suggestions. We'd also like to try some very good Chinese. I'll probably drag him to Greens for lunch or dinner (I'm pescetarian, and he's not), which leaves a few meals still up for grabs. Where can we find San Francisco's best bagels, Chinese food, and restaurant(s) in general?
Suggestions in the City are probably preferred, but this is really an exploratory trip to figure out sort of what living there would be like, so we don't mind going across the bay.
Thanks in advance.
