Tried Sammy's on Sat. night. First, I'm pleased to announced that none of the food arrived pre-chewed.
I'd say they payed some attention to the Inquirer review a week ago. While service wasn't perfect, they did look like they were trying. That said, it still took 10 minutes to be seated in a fairly empty restaurant. Though once seated, they really did try to please. Even so, appitizer and main courses arrived almost at the same time, and one order was messed up.
As far as food goes, tried as wide a range as possible. For appitizers, we had the appitizer combo (wings, baby backs, bbq balogna, and skins). the Balogna was ok, but not memorable. Skins were average, or just below. Wings were a pleasant surprise, and the baby backs were delightful. I'd definitely order one of those on a return visit.
For the main course, we had bison ribs, more babyback (screwed up order... was supposed to be regular ribs), pulled pork, brisket, and sausage. While all was better than expected, the ribs (both kinds) were definitely some of the best I've had in the area in a long time.
To sum it up, if you're willing to risk the service, the food won't let you down.
