Rustic Kitchen and Dedo - Not Quite Worth It

Ate at both places recently.

Rustic Kitchen in Faneuil Hall. Had their pumpkin Mezzaluna. Small portion, not worth having again, a bit dried out and not that flavorful.

Dedo, probably should have eaten at bar.

Very small food.

I ordered "Veal Breast with spinach puree and potatoes."

There was a decent portion of veal, but for them to say it came with spinach puree is an absurdist nouvelle cuisine joke. There was literally a swirl of green color piped onto the plate, less then a teaspoon's worth; even if you licked the plate you could not honestly say you actually ate any spinach. The potatoes were approximately four 1/2 inch potato cubes. Again not anything that actually qualified as sustenance.

Just for the record, I do not object to delicate portions, but this really drifted into the absurd. If not for the bread basket I would have gone hungry.

The veal was good, but nothing really notable. My dining companion had the arugala salad, also a preposterously small portion, and the duck liver pate which was a decent portion and very tasty.

The prices were rather reasonable, but I would NEVER go back except to the bar. The mac and cheese and huge burgers at the bar looked pretty tempting.
