Ruan Thai in Wheaton - Specials - Soft Shells, Salmon

We've been getting carry out from this place for the past few weeks (pad thai, fried squid, catfish larb - good stuff, catfish fillet, various shrimp dishes, lemon grass soup) and we finally got to eat inside the place. The two specials were soft shell crabs and salmon with a choice of three sauces: Basil, three spices or curry. My wife got the salmon and I got the crabs and we both ordered it with the basil sauce. I got two pretty decent sized crabs out of the deal (15.95), but I was really impressed with the salmon(9.95). The fish had a nice mouth watering flavor with each bite. I guess it was cooked perfectly because it wasn't dry at all and I felt like I could eat two servings.

The place is small and some of the dishes aren't cheap, but the food has been consistently good. Hopefully we can go back soon to try the crispy whole fish. Dare I say I'm in a mood where I prefer the tastes there than at Full Key accross the street? Maybe it's just the change of pace.

Thanks again to the hounds who brought this place up.

Mark
