So we gave RCC another try--and boy, do I wish we hadn't. The last time we went, the food was pretty good and the service was so-so. This time, the food was so-so and the service was simply abysmal.
First, we called to let them know we were running late. So they gave our table away--I thought we called to keep that from happening, but whatever. If they're busy, they're busy. We then waited another 45 minutes for a table (we were a large party)--during which we were able to get ONE drink. There was one bartender for the whole place, and she didn't seem to have a good system, because my husband got his drink, and 15 minutes later I got mine--a margarita with no salt. Apparently, they were out of margarita salt. Fine.
So we finally get seated. Waitstaff are wandering around, and it's impossible to tell who our server is, since she doesn't approach and introduce herself. We're still waiting for some of our party's drinks at this point as well. When our server finally comes over to us, we ask her about our drinks, and she shrugs and tells us the bar's backed up. Uh, really? Hadn't noticed. No apology, no offer to go check on our order.
Anyway, my chicken was salty, my rice undercooked. Is this part of the Manhattan mystique--mediocre food at inflated prices with snotty service? If so, my country ass and my money will be going elsewhere.
