a group of 9 of us went there for a dinner at 9pm. i must say i was duly impressed by the food, wine and above all, the professional service that we received here. all members of the staff are truly onboard with what it means to provide good service. they greeted us at the door with a smile, even though we were 20 minutes late after hopping in two taxis and a limo from the hotel at mandalay bay.
they started us out with a amuse bouche from the chef. i still don't remember what this is, although they did have minched chives in it. since it was sunday, wine was 1/2 off. we took advantage of this by ordering 4 bottles. 2 of a pinot from healdsburg, ca and 2 bottles of a french wine.
they had a $100 tasting menu for a five course meal w/ wine pairings or $85 for the meal w/ beer pairings. all of us got the $39.95 3 course prix fixe, with upcharges for various foie gras appetizers and for the steak entrees.
service was impeccable. the sommelier gave us some great tips on the wine. we took both his suggestions and he did not steer us wrong. why is it that sommeliers always wear nice shirts and suits? this guy was no different. 4 servers came out each time our appetizers/entrees came out and handed out the plates to each person at precisely the same time.
i had the seared scallops appetizer w/ jicama salad and the strip steak, medium w/ fingerling potatoes. this restaurant does serve their food w/ ample sauces on the side. there's no minimalism in presentation of the dishes. i had a homemade espresso fudge made in-house for dessert. the bill came to $885 for 10 people and 18% gratuity was included.
others had the foie gras, spinach salad for appetizers and seared ahi tuna and veal tenderloin for entrees.
