I'm on my way to Rome for business in early October and am staying over for the weekend; it's been a couple of years since I was last there, and I've been delighted trawling through the wealth of recommendations on the board.
I do have two specific questions, though:
Last time I was there, I had my Platonic pasta ideal - fettucine with radicchio - at the Grotto del Teatro di Pompeo, near Campo dei Fiori. I'm dying to go back, but I was a bit spooked to read somewhere on the web that they have "dining for large groups" - a huge danger sign in my eyes. Has anyone been recently? Any comments on the quality?
This is a long shot: a friend took me years ago to a non-descript restaurant near the Palais de Justice (sorry, don't know the Italian). I don't remember much about it, other than that it was a small wood-panelled (?) front room with a table of antipasti in the center, and the place was filled with lawyers and solicitors chowing down on excellent food. Don't suppose this rings a bell with anyone??
