Here are a few things I've heard lately about new restaurants opening in the Rogers Park (east) area, in order of certainty:
1) Morseland (Morse & Sheridan) has been purchased by a group of investors who brought in their chef buddy to run it. I spent some time chatting with the chef buddy, whose name is Sean (he is also known as Vito) at a bar on Friday. They are doing full dinner and bar menu with live music after 10, (I think 7 days but I'm not sure - weekends for certain). Entrees will be around the $10 - $15 range, and he plans for specials that include game. Opening June 1.
2) Can anyone confirm or deny the fate of the Glenlake (Glenwood & Devon)? I have heard whispers about the Tomboy/Room people purchasing it after the man who was renovating it died, and that they are opening it soon as a bar/food establishment. The parking lot was full of cars on Friday.
3) This one is the sketchiest of all, but rumor has it that the place that used to be "Cheers", and most recently a youth center, on Sheridan at Albion will be some sort of "franchise establishment". I have no idea what that means. A Bennigan's or something? Taco Bell? I could just be spreading rumors...
