I hope you all can help me because I don't have time for much research, given the amount of attention that our firstborn Chowpup, now almost five months old, requires. We are leaving in a week for a roadtrip that will hit, in order, the Chapel Hill/Durham area (one dinner), Charleston (two days), Augusta (one dinner, plus maybe a late lunch or early dinner), Charlotte (one dinner), and Lexington (one lunch, but I am more than willing to stretch that one lunch over many dishes at multiple establishments). We'll probably also need a lunch spot between Durham and Charleston, unless there's someplace in Chapel Hill/Durham where we can get good takeout.
We're looking for places that are baby-friendly, obviously, where the Chowpup can nap in her carseat or babble away without causing too much of a stir. The type of cuisine is not a big issue, but we'd prefer casual (shorts, khakis, that sort of thing), relatively inexpensive places (say, $40-60 for two for dinner including drinks, and preferably on the lower end of that range -- and good, cheap dives would be great). I'm not all that picky; I'm just desperately hoping that traveling with the Chowpup does not mean settling for chain food.
For the record, we have been to Lexington #1 and liked it plenty; we're thinking of a re-visit, or maybe a stop at the Barbecue Center. Any input on that choice is welcome, although I know it's a common topic here.
Thanks for your help!
